Arrrgghhh essay!!!!

ok so im trying to write an essay.
but i dont know what the piont of it is.

have there been any guidlines given? or specific requirements, as to the content and theory base or artist examples.
how much or how directly are we supposed to use how own work?
what kind of style is it to be written in?
would you say it was like a thesis?
what is the general aim of the essay? to argue a piont, or to explain our practice from a theoretical piont of view, or to place ourselves in the art and theory world some how???

im stumped as to how to proceed.
ive done a stack of reading and know what im interested in
but how does one structure something as huge as this??
i can only talk about my work in the future sense, cos i kinda havent made it yet...
the creation of it is slowly taking shape in my head...

but im thinking about too many concepts
